Taichung Super Dome development project

The Taichung Super Dome project is progressing toward a formal agreement to construct an international-standard indoor baseball stadium. The project involves an estimated investment of approximately 60 billion TWD under a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model.

Taichung Mayor Lu Shiow-yen indicated that the city was finalizing the signing process with the preferred bidder, Taiwan Life, with an expected completion of the contract by the end of 2026. The facility is designed to meet World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) standards, featuring a capacity of at least 45,000 seats. To optimize operations, the development will incorporate expertise from Japan’s ES-CON Sports & Entertainment, modeling itself after the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters’ stadium.

As of mid-October 2026, the Taichung City Government scheduled the signing of the BOT agreement for October 16. The multi-functional complex is intended to serve as a landmark for international sporting events, concerts, and exhibitions, aiming to establish Taichung as a ‘World Baseball City’ by integrating new venues with existing infrastructure.
