Taichung urban development and heritage projects
Overview
Taichung City is undertaking significant infrastructure and heritage preservation initiatives. The city has begun a 4.2 billion TWD reconstruction of the 57-year-old Chongde Funeral Parlor, a project intended to modernize the facility and increase ceremonial capacity to meet population growth.
In parallel, the Taichung State Hall has reopened as a cultural park following a restoration costing approximately 600 to 700 million TWD. To celebrate the reopening, the city launched an exhibition titled “The Past and Present of Taichung State Hall” to showcase the building’s architectural and administrative history. Mayor Lu Shi-yen utilized the site for a municipal meeting to promote the landmark to the public.
