Taipei Main Station mall renovation

Overview

Shin Kong Mitsukoshi has assumed management of the Taipei Main Station mall, succeeding Breeze after a 19-year tenure. The handover, completed in late July 2026, involved approximately 120 stores, with most signing short-term leases during the transition.

In partnership with the Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA), Shin Kong Mitsukoshi has launched a renovation project valued at over NT$1 billion. The development agreement is set for a minimum of 15 years, with construction expected to take roughly two years and eight months.

Planned upgrades include a 600-inch digital welcome wall, AI-enhanced restroom and navigation services, new elevators, and dedicated spaces for art galleries and youth entrepreneurship. To improve lifestyle services, food and beverage stalls will be limited to under 70% of the total space. TRA Chairman Cheng Kuang-yuan stated that at least 70% of operations will continue uninterrupted during the construction period.
