Health authorities and medical institutions in Taiwan are expanding community-based initiatives to address the challenges of a super-aged society and rising dementia rates.

In Chiayi, efforts include local health center programs in Minxiong Township, such as creating handmade keychains with contact information to prevent elderly wandering. Additionally, the Chiayi City Government Health Bureau and Chiayi Christian Hospital held a seminar on brain health to promote the identification of Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) and lifestyle interventions.

In other regions, Kaohsiung Municipal Fengshan Hospital launched the ‘Zhongzheng Ruizhi Academy’ to provide cognitive stimulation and reminiscence therapy for dementia patients, alongside muscle training for pre-frail elderly individuals. Meanwhile, in the Taipei and New Taipei areas, MacKay Memorial Hospital has established 79 community health service stations. These stations offer dementia support hubs, brain health programs, and functional assessments, utilizing cloud-based systems to manage community health measurements.
