Taiwan international baseball hosting rights

Overview

Taiwan has secured hosting rights for several major international baseball competitions. The Chinese Taipei Baseball Association confirmed it will host the 2027 WBSC Premier12 (including the Asia qualifier) and the 2028 Olympic Baseball Final Qualifying Tournament.

For the Premier12, preliminary and semi-final rounds are scheduled for November 2027, with 10 matches planned for the Taipei Dome, while the tournament finals will be held in Tokyo, Japan. Association Chairman Ko Chung-liang noted that hosting these events provides a “significant advantage” for the national team.

In response to these developments, Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an stated the city is preparing by focusing on security, transportation, and venue maintenance to leverage the tournaments for tourism and economic growth.
