In Taichung, City Councilor Chen Yu-jung criticized Mayor Lu Shiow-yen regarding significant delays in major infrastructure projects. Specific concerns were raised about the Taichung Dome, which is now projected for a 2030 completion, and the Blue Line MRT project, which faces a projected completion date of 2038. The councilor also questioned the city’s budget allocation, noting a perceived lack of investment in industrial attraction and waste management infrastructure compared to spending on local festivals.

In Taipei, Mayor Chiang Wan-an has faced ongoing scrutiny regarding his disaster preparedness and typhoon response. Following his inspection of drainage systems at Yongjian Elementary School, local community leaders and officials expressed frustration over unresolved flooding and maintenance issues, alleging that the visit was unannounced and that local officials were prevented from participating in briefings.

More recently, Chiang faced criticism regarding his handling of Typhoon Prapiroon. This followed comments by DPP Taipei mayoral candidate Shen Po-yang, who suggested that typhoon holidays should be decoupled from stock market operations. Chiang responded by clarifying that the authority for such decisions rests with the Executive Yuan, emphasizing that his primary responsibility is ensuring citizen safety based on scientific data and meteorological forecasts.
