Talento Joven aquatic training programs in Spain

Overview

Under the ‘Talento Joven’ programme, various Spanish regions are conducting aquatic lifesaving and lifeguard training to improve employability for unemployed youth.

In Puertollano, approximately twenty young people completed a 180-hour course in lifeguarding and aquatic rescue. This initiative, co-financed with European Union funds and delivered by the local Chamber of Commerce, focused on prevention, surveillance, and emergency response protocols to meet summer-season demand.

Similarly, in Lanzarote, twenty-two participants aged 16 to 29 completed 150 hours of training. Co-financed by the European Social Fund (ESF+) and the Cabildo de Lanzarote, the curriculum included accident prevention, first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and the use of automated external defibrillators (AED) to support the local nautical, hotel, and leisure sectors.
