In late July, health officials in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas reported that acute diarrheal illnesses had affected 21,792 people, with children under five comprising the largest share. A week later, municipal authorities in Nuevo Laredo, also in Tamaulipas, described a sharp rise in consultations for diarrheal and other gastrointestinal illnesses as temperatures continued to climb. The 12 UNE clinics reported the highest case volumes, though they maintained sufficient medication stocks and continued to provide free treatment. Local officials reiterated hygiene advice and emphasized the need for early care, noting no severe cases. They also announced upcoming influenza, pneumococcal and COVID‑19 vaccination campaigns for the fall season.
