Tamil Nadu political party shifts

Overview

The political landscape in Tamil Nadu has seen shifts in party membership between the Tamilaga Vetri Kalagam (TVK) and the AIADMK.

In early August, TVK president C. Joseph Vijay expanded the party’s Media and Communications Wing by appointing new chief spokespersons and digital media representatives. During this period, the party also saw a significant influx of members, including approximately 1,000 defectors from the AIADMK, such as former MP M Udhayakumar and former MLAs K Srinivasan and G R Mala.

By mid-August, the movement of personnel shifted as Arun Kumar, a former TVK candidate, returned to the AIADMK. Kumar, who had previously contested the Edappadi constituency against AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi Palaniswami, formalized his return to the party in Salem.
