Tanjong Malim automotive industrial development
Overview
Development has commenced on the Tanjong Malim Hi-Tech Park in Perak, a project by Setia Awan Land Sdn Bhd with an estimated Gross Development Value of RM1.4 billion. Spanning roughly 180.93 hectares, the park aims to bolster the Muallim district as an industrial and automotive hub, complementing the existing Automotive High-Tech Valley (AHTV) ecosystem. The project is expected to create approximately 15,000 jobs and is slated for completion by the third quarter of 2029.
Following the groundbreaking, the Perak state government has moved to engage with domestic and international investors to further expand the AHTV ecosystem. State Executive Councilor Loh Sze Yee indicated that while specific company names remain confidential due to regulations, officials are actively identifying potential partners. The state is prioritizing investors that align with the current hub, which is led by Geely Holding Group, following reports that BYD Company Limited had previously withdrawn its intention to invest in the area.
