Tanzania-Qatar bilateral cooperation

Overview

Tanzania and Qatar are expanding bilateral cooperation through labor agreements and economic treaties.

Following an official visit by Tanzanian Prime Minister Dr. Mwigulu Nchemba to Qatar, Tanzania announced it is finalizing the process to secure over 4,500 job opportunities for its citizens across various sectors. This follows previous employment initiatives with the Qatar National Transport Company and offers from Power Holding International. Additionally, the two nations signed Memoranda of Understanding regarding political and diplomatic cooperation, as well as cooperation in firefighting, rescue, and emergency services.

On September 29, 2026, the two countries furthered their economic ties by signing a Double Taxation Agreement. Signed by Tanzanian Finance Minister Amb. Khamis Mussa Omar and Qatari Finance Minister Ali Bin Ahmed Al Kuwari in Doha, the treaty aims to eliminate double taxation on cross-border business income. The agreement is intended to create a more predictable environment for investors and strengthen cooperation between tax authorities to combat evasion, specifically targeting sectors such as infrastructure, energy, tourism, and agriculture.
