Tehran-North Freeway infrastructure development

Overview

Construction is underway on the Tehran-North Freeway, specifically focusing on the Alborz Tunnel section. According to Saeed Shahsavari, CEO of the Tehran-North Freeway Company, drilling is in its final stages with approximately 950 meters remaining.

Work is being conducted from both northern and southern fronts and includes tunnel lining, ventilation installation, and electromechanical setup. To facilitate operations, a 900-meter bridge and a 2,200-meter path are being built to connect the tunnel's northern entrance to Chalus Road. This connection is intended to allow travelers from the north to bypass the Kondovan and Serhang areas.

The Alborz Tunnel and its connection to Chalus Road are projected to be operational by late 2027 or early 2028, with an estimated completion cost of approximately 15 trillion tomans.
