Telangana healthcare infrastructure expansion

The Telangana government is expanding its healthcare infrastructure through several major projects. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is scheduled to inaugurate the Marri Chenna Reddy Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (MCR TIMS) super specialty hospital in Erragadda, Hyderabad. This 1,000-bed facility, built at a cost of approximately ₹1,100 crore, is already conducting trial runs and providing services to roughly 250 patients daily.

Looking toward broader state goals, the Chief Minister announced that additional major projects—including the new Osmania General Hospital, TIMS hospitals in LB Nagar and Alwal, and the Warangal Super Specialty Hospital—are slated for completion by December 9, 2027. These developments aim to increase the state’s total hospital bed capacity to approximately 10,000.

To support these facilities, the government has directed that new TIMS hospitals operate at “corporate standards” to ensure accessible super-specialty treatment for poor and middle-class citizens. The administration has also proposed incentives for super-specialty doctors to work additional hours in government facilities. Over the last two years, the government has allocated Rs 21,800 crore to the Medical and Health Department, including significant funding for the Aarogyasri scheme and the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
