Telecommunications providers launch children's smartwatches
Overview
Telecommunications providers in Bulgaria and Germany have introduced specialized smartwatch packages for children to coincide with the start of the school season.
A1 in Bulgaria launched the ‘Smart Kids’ plan, featuring a smartwatch for children aged 5 to 12. The device includes GPS tracking, video chat, a school mode, and an SOS button. To ensure security, the device only accepts calls from numbers pre-approved via the ttec Kidi app. The service is offered through a 24-month subscription model.
In Germany, Telekom introduced the ‘Smart Connect S’ package. This offering combines a smartwatch with a mobile plan that includes 1 GB of data, an all-net flat rate, and a tracking flat. Similar to the Bulgarian offering, the service allows for controlled communication by restricting contact to pre-approved numbers. The package also includes a 60-euro Amazon voucher for school expenses.
