TESK warnings on student and consumer safety

Bendevi Palandöken, President of the Confederation of Turkish Tradesmen and Craftsmen (TESK), has issued a series of warnings regarding student safety and consumer protection ahead of the new academic year.

Initially, Palandöken focused on school shopping safety, advising parents to avoid unregulated or ‘under-the-counter’ products. He emphasized the importance of quality standards, such as the CE mark for stationery items like pens and erasers, to ensure child safety. He also advocated for parental freedom in selecting school uniforms to avoid unnecessary economic burdens.

As the school term approached, the focus expanded to broader student welfare. Palandöken urged tradesmen near schools to prevent the sale of products from pirate sellers or illegal organizations that promote addiction. He also called on parents to maintain close contact with teachers and school-parent associations, monitor students' social circles, and ensure that school shuttle services provide safe transportation.
