The Champions Burger festival: Vigo concludes, Mijas begins

Overview

The 2026 edition of The Champions Burger, a national smash-burger competition in Spain, has completed its tour in Vigo. Held at the Vialia Shopping Center, the 11-day Vigo event featured 17 gourmet entries. The top award went to ‘Pink Paradise’ from Zaragoza, while the restaurant Madison received the most votes for its recipe featuring fat smash ribeye and Iberian cheek. Carnivale secured second place with ‘La Heredera’, and Rico from Almería placed third with ‘La Ganadora’.

The festival is now expanding to other locations. In Mijas, the championship has launched at the Las Lagunas fairground, running from August 20 to September 6 with seventeen food trucks. Additionally, the event in Huelva at Muelle de Levante has had its dates adjusted due to external reasons; it is now scheduled to run from August 24 to September 6, featuring various food trucks and itinerant establishments with free admission.

Looking ahead to September, Algeciras will host both ‘The Champions Burger’ and ‘The Champion Cheesecake’ at the Recinto Ferial from September 3 to September 13. The burger event will feature thirteen establishments offering fourteen different burgers, including an ‘All Star’ route showcasing award-winning burgers from previous editions. Notably, this leg will not include a popular vote. The accompanying cheesecake festival will showcase five different proposals from participants including Nolitos Burger, Todo Cheesecakes, Tarantinchiflado, La Tentación Cheesecake, and The 99 Cheesecake. The Algeciras event is free to the public and features a presentation inspired by major sporting exhibitions.

Separately, the Burger Manía Fest is scheduled for August 27 to August 30 at the Caspe Pavilion, featuring artisanal beers and urban cuisine.
