The Last of Us Day 2026 celebrations

Naughty Dog has initiated several celebrations for ‘The Last of Us Day 2026’. Initial announcements included the release of a free animated background for the PlayStation 5 Welcome Hub and news regarding the HBO television adaptation, which saw the addition of John Goodman, Ian Alexander, and Laura Bailey to the cast.

Subsequent updates detailed specific promotional activities, such as a crossover with Sucker Punch Productions’ ‘Ghost of Yotei’ that allows players to unlock Clicker-inspired armor. This content is scheduled to be available starting October 1 for the base game, the Most Wanted mode, and the ‘Echoes of Sekigahara’ DLC. Other festivities include new themed avatars for PlayStation and Steam, a partnership with Youtooz for a ‘Bloody Clicker’ action figure, and a one-hour ambient subway video. Digital sales for ‘The Last of Us Part 1’ (50% off) and ‘Part 2’ (33% off) are set to begin on the Epic Games Store and Steam on October 1.

While fans anticipated news regarding ‘The Last of Us Part 3’, studio head Neil Druckmann confirmed that the studio is working on two new projects in very early stages. These are intended to “expand the canon of The Last of Us beyond Part I and Part II,” though it remains unconfirmed if these will be video games or other media. Druckmann emphasized that the studio would only return to the franchise if they had “meaningful stories to tell.”

Additionally, Naughty Dog revealed plans for a full reveal of its most ambitious project, ‘Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet’, in 2027. The sci-fi title follows a bounty hunter named Jordan A. Mun on the planet Sempiria, and the team intends to remain quiet for the rest of 2026 to focus on development.
