Theft and burglary incidents in France

Overview

In early August 2026, several thefts were reported in France. In Rouen, two youths aged 15 and 18 were arrested after breaking into the ‘Emma’ bakery; police recovered the cash register and placed the suspects in custody for aggravated theft.

Separately, in the Var region near Pampelonne beach, a seasonal worker apprehended two individuals attempting to flee after stealing a luxury watch from a tourist, successfully returning the item to its owner.

By August 10, police in Rouen arrested a 47-year-old man following a pharmacy break-in on Rue de la République. After being identified via surveillance footage, the man confessed to the pharmacy robbery as well as several other recent burglaries, including thefts at local bakeries.
