Theft of collectible cards in the Netherlands and Germany

Overview

A series of thefts targeting collectible items, specifically Pokémon cards, has been reported in the Netherlands and Germany.

In the Netherlands, two separate burglaries occurred. In Den Bosch, thieves broke into the home of a game shop owner, stealing Pokémon cards, video games, and other collectibles valued at approximately 50,000 euros. In Stad, a card shop was targeted by three suspects who caused significant property damage; however, an alarm system likely prevented the theft of much of the most valuable inventory.

Following these incidents, three suspects—one woman and two men—were arrested in Aachen, Germany, after attempting to sell stolen items, including a highly valuable Pokémon card, at a local trading card fair. Authorities stated the stolen goods were originally taken in the Netherlands. The suspects are being investigated for receiving stolen goods.
