TİGEM agricultural production and sales activities

Overview

The General Directorate of Agricultural Enterprises (TİGEM) has implemented several initiatives to bolster Turkey’s agricultural productivity and financial growth.

In mid-August, TİGEM scheduled two livestock auctions to renew herd structures. The first, held at the Polatlı Agricultural Enterprise, involved 3,100 animals with an estimated value of 46,275,000 lira. The second auction at the Gözlü Agricultural Enterprise featured 4,250 small ruminants, valued at approximately 58,868,900 lira.

Simultaneously, the Ulaş Agricultural Enterprise commenced a 15-day triticale harvest across nearly 15,000 decares. Supported by regular rainfall, officials expect a yield of approximately 6,000 tons—a 50% to 60% increase over the previous year. This harvest is intended to meet roughly 50% of the national requirement for triticale seeds. Plant Production Chief Kemal Sercan Helvacıoğlu noted that the facility also produces certified sainfoin, vetch, and alfalfa.

Looking at financial performance, TİGEM General Manager Dr. Hasan Gezginç projected a 2026 year-end profit of 1.6 billion TL, an estimated 78% increase from the previous year’s 900 million TL. Future targets include 1.8 billion TL for 2027 and 2 billion TL for 2028. While achievement rates against targets are high for cereals (101%) and corn (106%), Gezginç cautioned that extreme weather has negatively impacted production in certain areas, specifically the Dalaman and Karacabey facilities.
