TikTok driving license fraud in Bulgaria
Overview
A fraudulent scheme has emerged on TikTok targeting individuals in Bulgaria by promising driving licenses within seven days for fees between 600 and 800 euros. The scam claims to bypass all required driving courses and exams, offering a “100% guarantee” for the documents.
Scammers utilize numerous duplicate profiles, including one operating under the name “Avtoskola Stefanov,” to spread videos of people posing with licenses in front of various Bulgarian Road Police stations to establish false legitimacy. Investigations by the Executive Agency “Automobile Administration” (DAI) have confirmed that no such legal training entity exists.
Authorities have warned that these profiles likely aim to steal personal data or collect deposits under the guise of “fast administrative services.” While the Ministry of Interior has reiterated that obtaining a license outside of official procedures is a criminal offense, reports indicate that some individuals have contacted news outlets to inquire about how to participate in the scheme rather than reporting the fraud.
