Tirumala Brahmotsavams festival celebrations
Overview
The nine-day Srivari Salakatla Brahmotsavams festival commenced at Tirumala with traditional ceremonies, including the Dwajarohanam ritual and the ceremonial ride of Sri Malayappa Swamy on the Pedda Sesha Vahanam. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu attended the event, presenting sacred Pattu Vastrams to Lord Venkateswara and praying for the state’s prosperity.
As the festivities continued, the event expanded to include large-scale cultural celebrations. Nearly 500 artists from eight Indian states, including Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Maharashtra, performed various classical and folk dances, such as Bharatanatyam, Kathak, and Kuchipudi, during the Simha Vahana Seva ritual. The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams noted that these annual Brahmotsavams are among the most significant of the many festivals held at the shrine.
