Štit Domovine police competition in Dubrovnik

Overview

The eighth edition of the ‘Štit Domovine Dubrovnik 2026’ international police competition concluded in the Dubrovnik-Neretva County. Organized by the Croatian Ministry of the Interior, the event aimed to promote psychophysical readiness, unity, and sportsmanship among participants.

The competition featured 83 participants, including Croatian police officers, Homeland War Special Police veterans, and officers from Slovenia, Austria, Hungary, and North Macedonia. The event was established in memory of Šime Đamić, a wartime commander of the ‘Šimini Anđeli Pakla’ Special Police unit.

Competitors completed a demanding 30-kilometer course that began in Buići and ended on Mount Srđ, passing through locations such as Grbavac, Brgat, and Žarkovica. While carrying approximately 10 kilograms of mandatory equipment and weaponry, participants used compasses and topographic maps to navigate the terrain. The course included six work stations testing skills such as weapon assembly/disassembly, infantry obstacles, pistol and rifle shooting, orientation, alpinism, and tactical room entry.
