Tlaxcala political and social tensions

In Tlaxcala, members of the Agricultura Digna movement held a ‘Diálogos Circulares’ meeting to protest what they described as a historical abandonment of the countryside. Protesters claimed that state and federal authorities have failed to resolve demands regarding resource distribution, specifically citing a lack of access to fertilizers and warehouses. While the movement denied being driven by partisan interests, state Communication Coordinator Antonio Martínez Velázquez suggested some members may have political motives, though he noted that resources for the sector, such as support for white corn acquisition, have increased.

Subsequent political friction emerged involving state officials and the local Congress. Martínez Velásquez raised concerns regarding the effectiveness of LGBTQ+ representation, arguing that affirmative action quotas do not always ensure authentic participation or legislative progress. Additionally, the administration addressed jeering directed at Governor Lorena Cuéllar Cisneros during the Feria Tlaxcala 2026, which a spokesperson attributed to potential coordinated actions by opposition groups.
