TLC singer T-Boz sickle cell health update

Overview

TLC member Tionne Watkins, known as T-Boz, has been recovering from a sickle cell disease crisis. Her absence from the ‘It’s Iconic Tour’ was first noted by fans during an August 28 performance in Connecticut.

Following a hospitalization in August due to sickle cell complications, Watkins has been unable to perform. During a concert at Fontainebleau Las Vegas on October 9, bandmate Chilli informed the audience that Watkins is slowly recovering and taking the necessary time to reach “100 percent health.”

TLC manager Bill Diggins has since confirmed that the singer’s recovery is the group’s “highest priority,” noting that recovery periods for such crises can vary from days to weeks. Watkins has lived with sickle cell disease since birth and has previously shared that medical professionals once doubted her life expectancy.

While no specific date for her return to the stage has been confirmed, Chilli has continued to perform the group’s hits solo during the tour, which also features En Vogue and Salt-N-Pepa.
