Togo socio-economic and public health initiatives
Overview
Togo is launching several national initiatives focused on socio-economic data collection and public health. Between September and December 2026, the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies and Demographics (INSEED) will conduct the Third Harmonized Survey on Household Living Conditions (EHCVM-3). This survey is designed to gather data on education, health, employment, and housing to guide public policy and measure development program impacts.
In terms of public health, Togo reported progress in HIV prevention and testing during 2025. Awareness campaigns reached over 2.36 million people, with more than 56% being youth aged 15-24. Testing increased to 650,142 people, identifying 10,174 positive cases. Additionally, maternal-to-child transmission prevention improved, with therapeutic coverage for pregnant women rising to 90.65%, though challenges persist regarding stigma and condom distribution.
