Tom Petty musical commemorations
Overview
Commemorations for singer-songwriter Tom Petty have been initiated to mark his birthday and the 50th anniversary of the first Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers album. Initial announcements included a limited edition screen print by artist Shepard Fairey, a collaboration with the Tom Petty estate where proceeds support the ACLU.
On November 6, the multi-disc box set titled ‘Origins 1971-1978’ was released. Co-produced by Adria Petty and the Petty Legacy LLC team, the collection features 57 tracks, including 27 previously unreleased songs. The set documents the musical evolution of Petty and the Heartbreakers, covering their work with the band Mudcrutch, Petty’s solo period, and early studio albums.
