Total War: Warhammer III Lords of the End Times DLC release

Overview

Creative Assembly and SEGA announced the upcoming release of the ‘Lords of the End Times’ DLC for Total War: Warhammer III. The expansion was scheduled to launch on September 24, featuring four new Lords—Nagash, Thanquol, the Glottkin, and Boris Todbringer—with individual DLCs priced at €8.99.

Following the release, it was confirmed that the expansion includes the new Legendary Lords: Nagash, Boris Wüterich, the Glottkin brothers, and Thanquol. While the full bundle is priced at over 30 Euros, individual Lords remain available on Steam for approximately 9 Euros.

A free update accompanied the launch, introducing Neferata, leader of the Lahmian Sisterhood, as a free Lord. This update also provides a significant overhaul to the Vampire factions, introducing a new playstyle and a revised growth system that replaces previous confederation mechanics.

Upon its release, Creative Assembly described the expansion as the ‘largest DLC in the 10-year history of the Total War series’. Beyond the four Legendary Lords, the content adds 23 battlefield units, eight Legendary Heroes, and 12 Regiments of Renown to the ‘Immortal Empires’ campaign.

The update also includes reworks for the Archaon the Everchosen faction and introduces new late-game scenarios, such as ‘Chaos Invasion’ and ‘Nagash Rises’, designed to increase campaign unpredictability. Design analysis of the expansion notes the use of hidden dice rolls to balance skill and randomness, alongside endgame scenarios that force players to adapt to sudden threats like undead uprisings.

Following the launch, patch 9.0.3 was released to balance the Undead Legions. This update implemented improvements to the Nagash campaign, including adjusted economic pressures, enhanced Sigil progression, and more meaningful goals for the Black Pyramid. Additionally, the patch introduced battle income scaling based on difficulty and buffs to Necropolises to maintain their value throughout the campaign.
