Tourist boat accidents in Thailand

Overview

In late July 2026, several maritime incidents involving tourist vessels occurred in Thailand. Near Pattaya, a speedboat carrying four tourists capsized in heavy seas off Koh Khram; all passengers were rescued without injury. On the same day, another speedboat sank off Surat Thani after being swamped by waves, though all passengers were also rescued unharmed.

In mid-August, a longtail boat carrying 12 people, including ten Indian tourists, capsized near Laem Hang Nak in Krabi while traveling from Ao Nang to Koh Hong. Unlike the previous incidents, seven individuals sustained injuries, including one person with a fractured arm. Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the Krabi accident, focusing on the vessel’s condition.
