Toyota GR GT3 development and debut
Overview
In July 2026, Toyota Gazoo Racing introduced its new GR GT3 race car at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, marking the model's public unveiling. The following month, the team took the GR GT3 to the Nürburgring Nordschleife for its first public test run. Former 24‑hour Nürburgring overall winner Jesse Krohn, along with Toyota Gazoo Racing drivers Naoya Gamou and Nirei Fukuzumi, piloted the car during a development session organized with KCMG support. The testing was part of the program that prepares the GR GT3 for entry into global GT3 competition in 2027.
The Nürburgring event also featured the Grasser team announcing a new Lamborghini Temerario GT3 entry for the upcoming DTM weekend, after a previous car could not be ready in time. While separate from Toyota’s program, the announcement underscored the broader GT3 activity at the circuit.
