Traffic accidents in Nghệ An and surrounding provinces

A series of traffic accidents occurred in Nghệ An and surrounding provinces. On August 16, a collision between a tourist bus and a container on the North-South Expressway resulted in 34 injuries. Medical reports indicated that many victims sustained multiple traumas, including head, face, and brain injuries, with one male patient in a coma requiring leg amputations.

On September 5, a separate accident took place on National Highway 16 in Mường Quàng commune. A truck carrying an excavator overturned at a sharp curve in the Dốc Chuối area, striking two motorcycles. The incident resulted in the deaths of a husband and wife, while three others, including the truck driver and two motorcyclists, sustained injuries.

On September 6, at approximately 3:50 AM, a sleeper bus collided with a tractor-trailer on the Bãi Vọt-Hàm Nghi Expressway in Hà Tĩnh at Km 508+000 in the Toàn Lưu commune area. The crash left five people on the bus injured, primarily with traumas to their necks, arms, and legs. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage and blocked the second lane, causing significant traffic congestion for North-South bound vehicles. Authorities diverted traffic through the junction of the expressway and Provincial Road 548 in Đồng Lộc commune to reach National Highway 1. While weather and road conditions were reported as clear, an investigation into the cause is underway.
