TransMilenio fare evasion mitigation project
Overview
TransMilenio S.A. and the Agencia Regional de Movilidad (ARM) have entered into an inter-administrative agreement valued at 48,437 million pesos to address fare evasion within the mass transit system.
The investment focuses on seven high-demand stations located along the corridor connecting Soacha and Bogotá, specifically San Mateo, Terreros, La Despensa, León XIII, Bosa, Perdomo, and Madelena. This corridor handles an average of 102,000 daily entries.
To mitigate irregular entry, the project will deploy technological and structural upgrades, including 140 high-resistance automatic doors with intelligent locking systems, floor-to-ceiling turnstiles, and access control barriers. A pilot program is scheduled for the San Mateo station. The initiative also intends to improve signage, physical circulation, and access zones to enhance safety for paying passengers.
