TransNusa airline route expansion

Overview

In mid‑July 2026, TransNusa announced a new direct Bali‑Phuket service, scheduled to start 9 September with four weekly A320 flights. The route began operating on 13 July, running on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. The carrier also launched two domestic links from Bali to Waingapu and Wakatobi using Comac ARJ‑21 aircraft. The Bali‑Phuket frequency is expected to increase to daily service from October through March 2027.

On 6 August 2026, TransNusa added a twice‑daily Jakarta‑Bangkok A320 service, providing 14 weekly departures. This launch coincided with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on 4 August between TransNusa and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT). Attended by TransNusa Group CEO Datuk Bernard Francis, TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool, and Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, the MoU aims to boost tourism, joint marketing, and further direct routes, with the digital platform Traveloka enlisted to promote Thai destinations to Indonesian travelers.

TransNusa Group CEO Datuk Bernard Francis noted that the Jakarta-Bangkok route is a strategic move to support regional connectivity and meet growing demand for business and leisure travel, strengthening economic ties and trade between Indonesia and Thailand.
