TRATON Group operational and technological expansion
Overview
The TRATON Group is pursuing expansion through both market presence and technological integration. In Brazil, the group has grown its heavy vehicle rental operations via Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus, with the VW Truck Rental program reaching over 8,000 vehicles in circulation.
Moving toward digital infrastructure, TRATON has partnered with Red Hat to develop ‘TRATON ONE OS’. This Linux-based software foundation aims to unify the technical architecture of brands such as Scania, MAN, International, and Volkswagen Truck & Bus. The initiative seeks to transition from fragmented control units to a centralized system using high-performance computers and container architecture, allowing for wireless updates and easier integration of new services. Serial production of vehicles using this architecture is expected to start in 2028.
