Treyarch Call of Duty development and future projects
Overview
Treyarch is managing the lifecycle of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 through both technical maintenance and long-term strategic planning.
In October 2026, Treyarch and Raven Software released update 1.109 for Black Ops 7 and Warzone. This patch focused on weapon balancing for multiplayer, including adjustments to assault rifles like the TR51 Para and the DS20 Mirage, as well as modifications to various submachine guns such as the VMP and Gremlin. The update also included technical fixes for the Zombies mode.
Looking beyond current support, studio leadership has signaled a transition toward new projects. Design Director Kevin Drew described the end of the current cycle as a “bittersweet goodbye” and indicated that the team is preparing to develop “something new” that may depart from the established Black Ops formula. Future innovations are expected to include a completely reimagined survival experience for the Zombies mode, with the next major franchise installment not anticipated until approximately 2028.
