Trikala General Hospital infrastructure upgrades

Overview

Trikala General Hospital has undergone several infrastructure and equipment improvements through private donations and regional funding.

In late August 2026, the hospital’s Emergency Department was fully renovated following a donation from Giorgos Fagridas and Androula Pavlidi-Fagridas. The upgrades included structural changes to improve patient management, the creation of a ‘fast track’ area for less urgent cases, a new patient calling system, and the installation of modern medical equipment.

By September 2026, additional medical equipment upgrades funded by the Region of Thessaly were reported. These interventions included the delivery of a portable ultrasound machine for anesthesiology and six new hemodialysis beds as part of a 203,000 euro procurement program. Furthermore, a new digital angiograph, valued at 900,000 euros and funded through the ‘Thessaly 2021-2027’ program, was installed to enhance cardiology services. The procurement of a surgical microscope for ophthalmology is currently pending.
