Türkiye-China trade disputes in green technology

Overview

Türkiye has engaged in several trade disputes and regulatory actions regarding Chinese imports in the green technology sector.

In mid-September 2026, a World Trade Organization (WTO) panel report ruled that Türkiye’s additional taxes on Chinese electric and certain hybrid vehicles violated international trade rules, finding the measures to be discriminatory. The Turkish Ministry of Trade responded that the report is not a final or binding decision and stated that the country maintains its right to appeal.

Following this, Türkiye’s Ministry of Trade finalized an anti-dumping investigation into Chinese-made junction boxes used in solar panels. To protect domestic production from alleged unfair pricing, the ministry imposed definitive duties on specific Chinese manufacturers. Five companies were assigned a duty of 38.23% of the CIF value, while other Chinese manufacturers not specifically listed will face a higher duty rate of 57.11%.
