Tucumán public health and research initiatives

Overview

The Ministry of Public Health of Tucumán has initiated several programs to address pediatric health and strengthen the provincial medical infrastructure.

In late August, the ministry launched a research project in collaboration with Tohoku University in Japan and CERELA-CONICET. This study evaluates the effects of an immunobiotic food on children aged 2 to 6 experiencing gastrointestinal and respiratory conditions, specifically examining the connection between intestinal microbiota and the respiratory system.

By mid-September, health authorities expanded their efforts through a vaccination campaign in San Miguel de Tucumán. The drive targets high-risk groups for influenza and provides respiratory syncytial virus vaccinations for pregnant women. Concurrently, the Ministry and the National University of Tucumán introduced a pilot program to provide fifth-year medical students with practical training in clinical and obstetric emergencies at various reference hospitals.
