Overview

The Tunnel to Towers Foundation has conducted several memorial activities marking the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks. The foundation concluded its ‘Steel Across America’ tour, which featured a 16,900-pound steel beam from the World Trade Center South Tower at 38 stops across the United States. The tour ended at MetLife Stadium during a New York Giants game.

Following the tour, more than 40,000 participants took part in the 25th annual Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk in New York City. Despite inclement weather, the event proceeded through Brooklyn and the Hugh L. Carey Tunnel to Lower Manhattan. The run honors FDNY firefighter Stephen Siller and the 343 firefighters lost during the attacks, as well as other first responders and military members. The foundation utilizes these efforts to provide mortgage relief and direct care to the families of fallen heroes.
