Turkey agricultural water management initiatives

Overview

Turkey is advancing agricultural technology and water management through automation and educational initiatives.

Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı announced plans to implement AI-supported irrigation automation systems to strengthen the nation’s agricultural infrastructure. This announcement coincided with a regional products exhibition organized by the State Hydraulic Works (DSİ) Foundation, which aims to fund village schools.

Complementing these technological goals, water conservation programs are being deployed across various regions. In Adana, the ‘DoğruSU Adana Project’ is training farmers in efficient irrigation techniques to minimize water loss and reduce costs. Simultaneously, in Batman, the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry is conducting water efficiency training for primary school students to promote resource sustainability in response to climate change.
