Turkey energy revenue utilization and production

Overview

Turkey’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, has detailed how domestic energy and mining revenues are being utilized to support social initiatives and national energy goals.

A total of 21.9 billion lira, derived from mining (12.1 billion lira) and petroleum and natural gas (9.8 billion lira), has been transferred to the Family and Youth Fund. This funding has reportedly supported more than 185,000 young people in establishing households. Under the current program, financial support is distributed based on age, providing up to 250,000 lira for individuals aged 18–25 and up to 200,000 lira for those aged 26–29.

Regarding energy production, Bayraktar noted that 3,500 young workers are engaged in oil production in the Gabar region. He emphasized that the area, previously characterized by conflict, is now a site of economic activity. The Minister also reaffirmed Turkey’s pursuit of energy independence through domestic exploration in the Sakarya Gas Field and the Mediterranean, while defending the construction of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant as standard practice.
