Turkey environmental and waste management initiatives

Overview

The Zero Waste Foundation is conducting a series of workshops across Turkey as part of a national environmental and climate change program. Early efforts included resource management workshops in Kahramanmaraş and climate change and recycling seminars for female neighborhood heads in Kocaeli.

As the initiative expands, the Zero Waste Foundation scheduled a workshop at Kafkas University in Kars to discuss resource efficiency and circular economy models. Concurrently, regional authorities are addressing water security and pollution. In the Büyük Menderes Basin, the Water Basin Council established a roadmap to combat drought and protect Bafa Lake. Additionally, the Union of Coastal Municipalities met in Didim to discuss the protection of coastal ecosystems and water resources across the Aegean Sea and the Büyük Menderes River.
