Turkey expands home care services

In early August 2026, Turkish local authorities began rolling out new home‑care initiatives for vulnerable residents. On 3 August, district officials in Iğdır inspected a private care centre and, together with Kayseri’s municipal and health officials, signed a protocol to deliver personal‑care services to bedridden, disabled and elderly citizens, covering hygiene, bathing and transport to medical appointments.

The following day, the Turkish Red Crescent launched a volunteer‑driven home‑care movement in Kars, sending volunteers to seniors’ homes to clean, assist with personal care, deliver necessities and provide companionship. The organisation highlighted its expanding role beyond disaster relief to everyday community support.

Together, these actions illustrate a coordinated push by both government bodies and civil‑society groups to broaden home‑care provision for the elderly and disabled across Turkey.
