Turkey football referee reforms

Overview

In early July 2026, the Turkey Football Federation announced that all professional leagues would adopt the new game‑rule package introduced at the 2026 FIFA World Cup for the 2026‑27 season. At the end of July, the Central Referee and Observer Board published the roster of officials for the 2026‑2027 football season in the Kayseri region, naming eight referees and five observers, including women officials Dilber Sıla Başıaçık and Sinem Özpınar. In parallel, the Turkish Handball Federation held a three‑day referee seminar in Kızılcahamam for 42 referee pairs, delivering theoretical and practical training on competition management, rule updates and officiating practices ahead of the new season.
