Turkey Hafız graduation ceremonies

In early July 2026 a ceremony in Vezirköprü, Samsun Province marked the completion of Qur'an memorisation training for 23 students. Officials highlighted the male Hafız programme’s history since 1978, its recent move to a new building in 2016, and the district’s role as a regional hub supporting roughly 1,200 trainees across male and female courses.

Later in July, a larger gathering in Trabzon honoured 623 children aged 9 to 12 who had finished Hafız training. The public icazet ceremony was held at the Hanife Hatun Mosque and was attended by Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, Trabzon Mayor Ahmet Metin Genç, the provincial governor, the rector of the local university and other officials. Minister Uraloğlu reiterated that the Qur’an is a lifelong guide for believers.

At the same time, District Mufti Yakup Avcı inspected Hafız courses in Bozyazı, Mersin, visiting the Denizciler Girls Hafız Kursu and the Tekeli Mehmet Akif Ersoy Boys Hafız Kursu as they prepared for a new term. He observed Qur’an recitations, reviewed a curriculum that includes memorisation, tajweed, moral instruction and supplementary activities such as guidance counselling, reading clubs, sports and values education, stressing the programme’s holistic and disciplined approach.
