Turkey livestock subsidy program expansion

In early August 2026, Turkey’s Agricultural and Rural Development Support Agency (TKDK) continued to fund livestock projects across the country. In Tokat’s Niksar district, farmer Kamil Numan Zengin received a 9 million‑lira grant to build a 1,000 m² cattle barn, allowing him to triple his herd and process dairy products. At the same time, the Kastamonu provincial administration increased subsidised credit for small‑ruminant farmers to 2 million lira, raising the ceiling for purchases of sheep and goats.

The following day, Nurcan Fıratoğlu of Elazığ secured a TKDK grant to construct a 500‑head sheep and goat farm. Completed in late 2022, the facility now supplies the local market and aims to add a dairy unit, illustrating the programme’s focus on job creation and regional production growth.

These actions show a coordinated effort by the Turkish government to boost both large‑cattle and small‑ruminant sectors through grants and low‑interest credit, targeting family farms and rural development.
