In mid‑July 2026, Turkish police responded to two separate random firearm attacks. On 9 July, a moving vehicle opened fire on a street in Istanbul’s Küçükçekmece district, prompting a swift investigation that led to the arrest of three men and their detention on charges of general safety endangerment and property damage.

Two weeks later, a similar gun attack occurred in Malatya’s Battalgazi (also reported as Kültürtepe) district, where two gunmen fired at a parked car. Authorities recovered numerous spent cartridges, apprehended one suspect, and continued to hunt the second individual. The motive was described as a personal dispute.

As of late July, no additional shooting incidents have been reported, and investigations into both attacks remain ongoing.
