Turkish Chambers of Commerce election cycle

Overview

Various Turkish Chambers of Commerce have announced election schedules and strategic initiatives for late 2026.

In Bursa, the Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTSO) set its organ elections for October 1, 2026. Chairman İbrahim Burkay noted the organization’s digital transformation through the BTSO SME Dialogue application, which aims to involve 60,000 members in decision-making. Amidst the election preparations, local businessman Ercan Sönmez called for ethical conduct, urging candidates to focus on “projects and visions rather than personal attacks.”

Other regional chambers have also finalized their timelines. The Trabzon Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TTSO) scheduled its elections for October 10, 2026, to select a new management committee and assembly. Meanwhile, the Sivas Chamber of Commerce and Industry (STSO) set its presidential election for November 22, 2026, featuring a contest between incumbent Zeki Özdemir and challenger Mustafa Eken. During their final council meeting, both candidates emphasized the importance of unity.

As election cycles progress, regional representatives are increasing member outreach. In Siirt, STSO Vice President Fuat Özgür Çalapkulu and Board Member Faruk Seven visited the Kurtalan district to discuss local economic contributions and strengthen communication with members. In Sivas, presidential candidate Mustafa Eken has been visiting districts like Yıldızeli to meet members, pledging to maintain continuous communication rather than only engaging during election periods. He also highlighted previous successes, such as the chamber’s accreditation and the inclusion of the Demirağ Organized Industrial Zone in incentive programs.

Beyond elections, regional organizations are pursuing development goals. TTSO has signed a contract to establish a Biotechnology and Innovation Center at Trabzon Teknokent, while the Kayseri Chamber of Commerce (KTO) is nearing the launch of the Kayseri TEKMER technology center.
