Turkish green passport eligibility proposals

Overview

Legislative proposals have been submitted to the Interior Commission of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey to expand eligibility for the “green passport” (special stamped passport), which facilitates visa-free international travel.

The proposal targets seven professional groups based on specific seniority requirements. Pilots would require at least five years of active flight experience, while engineers and architects must have ten years of seniority and membership in the Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects (TMMOB). Medical doctors, dentists, veterinarians, and pharmacists would need at least 15 years of professional experience.

The measure aims to reduce bureaucratic delays and costs for airlines regarding pilot training and aircraft deliveries, and to assist architects and engineers in accessing global technological advancements. Applicants must not have active investigations or prosecutions under the Anti-Terror Law.
