Turkish municipal digital platforms for women

Overview

Municipalities in Turkey are implementing digital platforms to support women's cooperatives and entrepreneurs by providing access to online marketplaces.

In Manisa, the Metropolitan Municipality is expanding its ‘Kadın Eli’ (Woman's Hand) project through the ‘Üzüm’ application. This initiative allows cooperatives to operate commission-free digital stores. Planned developments include a dedicated web portal, expanded product categories such as olive oil, and advertising support to increase consumer reach.

Similarly, the Kahramanmaraş Metropolitan Municipality launched the ‘Kahraman Kadın’ platform in collaboration with Kahramanmaraş İstiklal Science and Technology University and the Women and Democracy Foundation (KADEM). The platform offers training and marketing support to transform local manual labor into economic value. For example, in the Türkoğlu district, women in the Kızılağaç Agricultural Development Cooperative use the platform to sell processed goods, such as jams made from locally produced strawberries.
